When you request a taxi by specifying "Wheelchair compatible vehicles," you can summon a standard universal design taxi certified by the government.
A standard universal design taxi is a vehicle certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as having met the specified requirements.
Important notes
- A vehicle-specific fee may be charged by the taxi company.
The amount varies by taxi company, so please check each company's website for details. - Please specify a horizontal and flat location with sufficient space when requesting a taxi, as a slope will be extended from the side (left door) or the rear (back door) of the vehicle for pickup and destination.
If a location where boarding or alighting is difficult is designated, the request may not be accepted. - Depending on the size, shape, and weight of the wheelchair, it may not be possible to board the vehicle.
Wheelchairs that may not be accommodated
- Weight exceeding the ramp's permissible weight of 200 kg (total weight of wheelchair + user + luggage + assistant pushing the wheelchair on the ramp).
- Some electric wheelchairs with dimensions of width 640 mm or more, length 1,000 mm or more, and height 1,200 mm or more (dimensions including the wheelchair user)
- Wheelchairs with angled wheels, such as sports wheelchairs, with a total width exceeding 640 mm
- Wheelchairs with wheel covers like mudguards, where there isn't enough space to pass a seatbelt through.
- Wheelchairs with a reclining mechanism that exceed 1,000 mm in length when boarding
- Even if the wheelchair meets the above criteria, a taxi company or driver may determine that boarding is difficult from a safety perspective.
- Please note that boarding and alighting, including the setup of the ramp, may take several tens of minutes each.
Please be aware of this if you are in a hurry. - The maximum number of passengers is two, including the person in the wheelchair (one person in a wheelchair and one accompanying passenger).
- You cannot specify the car model.
If you prefer a specific model, please contact the taxi company directly to make a request. - Taxis covered by long-term care insurance cannot be summoned.
- Reservation is not available.
- Disability discount is not automatically applied.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but please present your disability certificate or disability certificate app (Mirairo ID) when making your payment.
